I worked as an exercise therapist at a hospital specializing in body type correction in Seoul for about two years from 2014 to August 2016. While working in the hospital, I helped with various types of cases with corrective exercise and manual therapy. Since then, I've been teaching and helping people in Singapore through personal training (yoga, Pilates, weight training, and functional training).
The X-ray below are before & after of (structural) scoliosis.
It's before and after 15 times of 1:1 session.
He was a college student in his 20s with scoliosis. He did not have any pain, but he came for posture correction due to a large twist in his shoulder/back/pelvic appearance.
For three months, one or two times a week, he focused on the schroth method, manual therapy, and muscle strengthening exercises.
The left pelvis was forward and the upper body was pushed to the right, causing the right shoulder to go up a lot. As the pelvis returned to its place, his shoulders have improved a lot.
You can see a significant change in pelvic height and hip position on the X-ray.
It is important for people with scoliosis to exercise steadily.
Especially for growing teenagers, the angle of the spine can be bent a lot as they grow taller, so doing corrective exercises can help prevent worsening posture and scoliosis.
Of course, if you have structural scoliosis, your spine cannot be straightened. However, there is a good chance of reducing the angle and preventing it from bending further and collapsing.
