Spondylolistesis

Hello, this is BlackGreenCo:)

Let's find out Spondylolistesis.

The spine, which serves as the pillar of our body, is weakened by aging, but is exposed to various diseases due to strain in surrounding muscles and ligaments due to the usual lifestyle or incorrect posture.

Often, if you feel symptoms of back pain and leg numbness, you first think of a back disc (HNP), but you need to examine a spinal cord disease that is similar but has a different cause.

1. What is Spondylolostasis?

Spondylolostasis, called the three major spinal diseases along with lumbar disc and spinal stenosis, is not well known, but it is a spinal disease that has been increasing in recent years.

The forward potential of Spondylolisthesis means 'bones are out of order' and is a condition that causes back pain and leg numbness as the gastric vertebrae are pushed back to the stomach rather than the lower vertebral bone.

2. What's the cause of Spondylolisthesis?

- Disks and joints are degenerated due to aging.

- Spinal joint bumps are fractured due to trauma, such as exercise or accident.

- In case of instability in the spine due to complications or aftereffects after spinal surgery.

- If the development of the vertebral joint is poor by birth

- Spinal bone weakened due to malignant tumor

- Lodorsis

The cause of Spondylolisthesis is congenital joint protrusion, or increased upper and lower vertebral connections due to trauma or spinal degeneration.

In particular, recently, office workers who sit down for a long time have been maintaining the wrong posture for a long time due to the increasing frequency of occurrence, or wrong lifestyle such as wearing high shoes or extreme obesity.

In addition, middle and older adults are more likely to increase as bones and muscles around the facet Joint, which serves to connect and hold vertebrae, become unstable.

According to a recent medical report, women with less muscle mass than men are three to four times more likely to develop muscle mass, especially women in their 50s and 60s due to reduced menopause hormones.

Spondylolisthesis can occur in any part of the spine, especially in lower lumbar spine (L4 and L5).

3. What are the symptoms of Spondylolisthesis?

- Back pain occurs when you sit down or extension back.

- After standing or walking for a long time, it hurts around the back or sacrum and below the knee.

- Back pain and leg and hip numbness.

- Lying straight can cause back pain.

- I have severe back pain when I wake up in the morning.

- When you touch the vertebrae with your back straightened, you feel a cascade of layers as if a certain area protrudes, and when you press it, you feel pain.

Spondylolisthesis is a major symptom of back pain, and unlike back disc (HNP), which feels pain when flexion back, it is characterized by extreme pain when extension back.

In addition to back pain, abnormal walking occurs due to the tension in the hamstring, so patients sometimes walk with their knees in a waddle. The hips may turn flat and see a dent in the back, and the pain in the hips is often worse than in the back.

4. How do you diagnose Spondylolisthesis?

Diagnosis of Spondylolostasis diagnoses how much the vertebrae are pushed through the X-rays.

There are several ways to measure the degree of Spondylolistesis, and the main technique used is to divide the top surface of the vertebrae under the vertebrae pushed out through Meyerding's Grade into four equal parts and assess how far they are pushed out of each class.

This is a situation in the spine that has been pushed out step by step of Spondylolisthesis.

In the first normal spinal alignment, shock absorption and alignment maintenance of the upper and lower vertebrae can be identified. You can see that the alignment of the spine is broken and the vertebral body is pushed forward in the marked center. And the shape of disks in between is changed.

As the stage increases, the spine becomes unstable and the structural continuum breaks, which can lead to Spondylolysis. Spondylolisthesis and Spondylolysis continue to have back pain, and some complain of extreme pain, but others are painless or mild.

This is an X-ray of Spondylolisthesis.
